■ Product Overview
The EDN.366 series is a submersible pressure
transmitter designed for hydrostatic level measurement in liquids such as water
and oil.
The measurement principle is based on
hydrostatic pressure, where the pressure applied to the sensor corresponds to
the liquid level, assuming a specific gravity of 1 for pure water. For liquids
with different densities, such as oil, appropriate compensation factors must be
applied.
Since hydrostatic level measurement can be
affected by atmospheric pressure variations, the EDN.366 is designed with an
integrated atmospheric pressure compensation system to ensure accurate
measurement.
All housing and sensor components are made of
stainless steel, making the transmitter suitable for use in non-corrosive
liquids such as water and oil.
The EDN.366 is primarily used for level
measurement in open tanks exposed to atmospheric pressure. For closed tanks,
where internal air density may vary, the use of differential pressure
transmitters is recommended.
In addition, the cable includes a vent tube for
atmospheric pressure compensation. Therefore, the cable length cannot be
extended after production, and the required total cable length must be
specified at the time of order.
■ Pressure Measurement Principle
The EDN.366 measures liquid level based on
hydrostatic pressure.
The pressure applied to the sensor is proportional to the height of the liquid column and is calculated according to the following principle:
P = ρ g h+ Po
Ρ
: Density of the liquid
g
: Gravitational acceleration
h: Height
(level) of the liquid
Po
: Pressure applied at the liquid surface (atmospheric pressure)
(For example,
a liquid depth of 100 cm corresponds approximately to 100 mbar (for water))
The sensor detects this pressure and converts
it into an electrical signal, which is then amplified and output as a stable
analog signal.
■ Materials of Wetted Parts
All wetted parts, including the housing and
sensor, are made of stainless steel.
This ensures reliable operation in water and
oil applications where no significant chemical corrosion is present.
